"How individuals and groups engage with media as part of everyday life has always been fascinating to me, whether it’s matters of global importance or relaxing with a good story. Teaching is a way to share this passion and find new ways of looking at the world.

I am inspired to keep teaching by the moment when a student sees the relevance of a concept to an everyday experience with the media. I am incredibly satisfied when a student applies a new concept correctly or pays attention to detail and produces excellent work."

Research

Research is my avenue for exploring concepts and testing whether my “ah-ha” insights actually make sense. There are so many questions still to explore in media and communication, although my current focus is on interactive media, advertising, and health/crisis communication.
