Common Law

This course is designed for students who have completed 2 years full-time studies in a recognized civil law degree. The rapid growth of international law, trade, development and migration, means that legal disputes now often cross country borders and jurisdictions.

Gain International Expertise

This course will complement your own civil law learning and give you a unique perspective of law as it is practiced internationally. It will give you a foundation in the main areas of Common Law as practiced in Australia and give you an edge over your peers who are qualified in just one system of law.

You'll learn about Australian Common Law and its application to Contracts, Property, Equities and Trusts, and Tortious Liability.

Please note that the BCL does not satisfy the requirements for admission to legal practice in Australia. However students who successfully complete the BCL can be admitted directly into the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) and generally complete this degree in one further academic year.
