Accounting Honours (BBus(Hons))

Accounting is a fundamental component in the successful management of business and public enterprise. It is used as an instrument to assist investors and managers in looking after their assets and investments.

This major provides information to support users in making decisions for a variety of purposes, including the acquisition or sale of shares, lending of money and provision of goods on credit.

The data produced through the accounting process is also used to make capital investment decisions. It acts as an evaluation and control aid when looking at the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations of an enterprise, as well as employee performance.

The aim of the Honours year is to extend your grasp of the principles and practice of the subject, to develop ability for independent research, and to facilitate your entry into industry employment. An Honours qualification is normally required for admission to higher research degree study.
