Our Services

Our services at the Careers and Employment Centre are available to all current students and graduates. These services can be accessed anytime throughout your degree and after you graduate.

Our services include but are not limited to:

• Murdoch Careers portal: CareerConnect
• Job Application checking service (through CareerConnect)
• Resources (on CareerConnect and in Centre)
• Drop in Sessions (in Centre)
• Appointments (in person, phone or skype)
• Murdoch e-Mentoring Network (on LinkedIn)
• Career and Employability Events/Workshops/Presentations (see CareerConnect)

1) Register and create a Profile on CareerConnect

CareerConnect is an online portal exclusive to Murdoch students and graduates wanting to access:

i) Resources - Career / Job Search
ii) Job postings - Student, Graduate, Casual / Part-time positions (including expired jobs for research purposes)
iii) Upcoming Event information and bookings (e.g. workshops, presentations, industry networking events)
iv) Help with feedback on your job application documents (e.g. Resume / CV)

2) Career Assistance

i) Drop-in Sessions

A Career Development Advisor is available for 15 minute Drop-In Sessions. No appointment necessary.
Tuesday to Thursday 12pm to 2 pm.

One of our experienced Career Development Advisors who will be happy to help you with:

  • How to gain relevant industry experience as a student.
  • Where to find degree related career information and job search resources.
  • Feedback on your Resume / CV and other job search documents.
  • How can you best prepare for an up-coming interview.
  • Where can you look for graduate jobs.

Please note: Drop-ins are on a first in first serve basis. You may be referred for a full appointment or a relevant workshop/presentation, if necessary. Career Appointments can be in person, via phone or skype.

ii) Individual Career Appointments

Half-hour one-on-one appointments with a Career Development Advisor can be made over the phone, in person or via email for in-depth career advice.  Appointments are available to all Murdoch University students and graduates.  NOTE:  CareerConnect  registration is necessary to access our Career Appointment service.

Our Career Development Advisors will be able to discuss:

  • Your career development strategy,
  • How to make the most of your degree,
  • Clarification of career direction,
  • Career / course changes and more.

During peak periods, appointments may not be available within the same week.
Job application documents are not able to be checked during appointments. Please submit your job applications documents for checking via "Need Help?" on CareerConnect or come in during one of our drop-in sessions times.

3) Workshops and Presentations

Each semester we offer interactive “How to” workshops and presentations designed to help you:

  • Create a winning Resume and Cover Letter
  • Find Experience
  • Develop a good LinkedIn profile
  • Perform well in an Assessment Centre
  • Interview with Confidence
  • Engage Professionally with Employers

Workshop / Presentation information and bookings are available under Events.  Recordings and presentation notes are also available under Resources on CareerConnect.

4) E-Mentoring Service

Looking for tips on how to transition to the workplace and develop your professional career?
Get active on LinkedIn and join our Murdoch e-Mentoring Network group.

The Murdoch e-Mentoring Network group is a free service to current Murdoch students and recent graduates looking to develop their professional careers and increase their industry involvement. It provides a network of Murdoch students and graduates (some of whom are well established in industry), providing a forum for the sharing of information and experiences relevant to career development. Be part of group discussions and read career/job search articles or even post specific career questions for group members.

Please note: For verification purposes, students must be registered on CareerConnect to be eligible and are recommended to have a completed LinkedIn profile prior to joining the group.
