This program is designed to build knowledge, capability and confidence in the management of financial matters. Executives are routinely expected to share and discuss financial data with their peers, direct reports, and the people they report to, and yet many managers have arrived at this level of accountability by virtue of their expertise and capability in other areas; many have progressed without significant formal training or extensive experience in financial management.
A study undertaken at the Business Literacy Institute and published in the Harvard Business Review* found that surveyed managers candidly admit that they are often weak in their understanding of financial data in meetings. The study comments that the absence of financial literacy is a potentially crippling weakness for any organisation. This program provides managers with the means to ensure that they are able to make significant contributions to discussions on financial performance.
