Michael Oconnor - Image

Michael Connor - Program Director

PhD (Uni Melb)

With a career straddling both academia and business, Michael began specializing in executive education and development at Nanyang Business School in Singapore. In addition to teaching and research, he has been active in consulting and executive coaching in a variety of industries and firms across the Asia-Pacific region, including Bayer-Schering, Roche Diagnostics, Capitaland, Keppel AmFELS, Singapore Ministry of Defence, Daimler Chrysler, Citibank, China Radio International, IBM Singapore, Heidrick & Struggles, Singapore Airlines Engineering Company, and United Overseas Bank. Michael has designed development programs for professionals at supervisor to CEO level in leadership and management development, change management, strategic HR and strategic communications.

In Australia, apart from stints as lecturer at the University of Melbourne, and Deakin and Murdoch, he has worked as professional editor, communications manager and consultant, and client manager. In between his return from Singapore and starting with Murdoch Executive Education, for six months he was in a strategy and business development role for an international educational ICT company.

Warren is a Human Resources Management (HRM) and Organisation Performance & Development (OP&D) practitioner and consultant with over 25 years experience in organisations ranging from large multi-nationals to major government departments.

He has worked extensively in these fields in both Australia and the United Kingdom and has designed and delivered both short courses and extended residential programs in a range of HRM and OP&D areas. He has Masters degrees in Business Administration (MBA – University of Western Australia) and Software Programming (Msc IT – Glasgow University) and currently teaches at the Murdoch University Business School in Human Resources Management and Leadership.

Warren has 25 years experience in Human Resource Management and Organisation Performance and Development and has an in depth knowledge of Distributed and Adaptive Leadership models.

Tim Atterton

BA Law; Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD); and Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA).

Tim is an internationally acclaimed business improvement specialist with 25 years' experience in management consultancy and academia. His professional expertise lies in the inter-related areas of entrepreneurship, business transformation and sustainable growth. He has held senior positions at two prestigious international Business Schools.

He was Executive Director of the World-renown Entrepreneurship Centre at Durham University Business School in the United Kingdom (1990 to 2000) and Director of the Bankwest Entrepreneurship & Business Development Unit at Curtin Business School in Perth, Western Australia (2000 to 2006). Despite his longstanding Business School affiliation, Tim regards himself fundamentally as a 'practitioner', rather than an 'academic', and has been actively involved in establishing, managing and advising a succession of businesses ventures since school days. His international reputation and unique competence is founded upon an unparalleled conceptual understanding of business development theory, complemented by real empathy with his target market and substantial practical and relevant real-world experience.

Tim is, also, a past Chair of the WA Small Business Development Corporation and, also, an acknowledged Conference Speaker in the areas of entrepreneurship, business re-vitalisation and growth.

Jaine Edge is an experienced human resources professional, trainer and executive coach with a background in the hotel, retail, television and airline industries. She has worked for privately owned and multi-national brand icons in the UK and Australia and currently runs her own consultancy, based in Perth, WA. Jaine is a certified professional with the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI), an Associate of the Institute of Executive Coaching & a member of the International Coach Federation. She is accredited in MBTI©, the Harrison technique and HAY Group job evaluation methodology.

Throughout much of Jaine’s career, she has held global responsibilities and she has a practical down to earth style that she uses to create a safe environment her clients can rely on. She has managed extensive change projects involving efficiency achievements and organizational growth. She has a passion for developing people and delivering results. She encourages good business disciplines that are simple and appropriate for the business. Jaine uses coaching and mentoring to develop people into better leaders and communicators to increase engagement and motivation throughout the company.

Originally from the UK, Jaine has lived and worked in Switzerland and Sydney and moved to Perth in 2006. For most of her career, she has travelled extensively to work from partner offices all over the world.

Jaine has a strong interest in people and believes that good people management, excellent leadership and effective communications make good sense and deliver bottom line success.

Geoffrey Peate

Geoff Peate has a multi-sector background of management and financial expertise with a career-long emphasis on transferring his knowledge to others through superlative training and development. Through his career Geoff has worked in mining, agricultural sector, financial investment, software development and sales, public accounting, consulting, automotive distribution and corporate investment environments. His various roles encompass a broad range of positions including: financial, management and systems accounting; strategic and business planning; business analysis; general management; client services delivery; project management, business development and learning and development. Geoff has a unique ability to operate at a strategic level with senior management and at the same time consult on operational matters with frontline management and their staff.

With over 20 years in financial, accounting, analytical, business development, management and leadership roles Geoff is well placed to add value to clients through his unparalleled ability to understand the specifics of a client’s business and identify leading edge, unique solutions to operational challenges. As well as identifying opportunities, Geoff applies his excellent teaching and facilitation skills to help embed recommendations and process changes in an organisation through knowledge transfer to staff at all levels. With a consultative project management style, Geoff works with clients on improving management and leadership skills, developing effective change management programs and introducing organisation specific learning and development programs.

Terry Power is an author, consultant, researcher and keynote presenter in the area of leadership and human potential who presents nationally and internationally for progressive companies wanting to maximize their organization’s greatest asset; their people.

Terry heads up his own consultancy which works with high-achievers across a diverse client base from SME’s to large corporates; examples being, Hilton Hotel Group (hospitality), Commonwealth Bank Australia (finance) Minter Ellison (legal), Curtin University (academia), Project Management Institute (association), Dept Planning and Infrastructure (Government) B-Digital (telecommunications) Sandvik Ltd (Mining), CME (Construction and Mining equipment), SWG (Southwest Engineering Group), Binders Group (oil and gas equipment) and Alcoa Australia.

One of Terry’s strengths is his ability to work successfully with his diverse client base; from front-line, blue-collar workers, through to senior executives and board members. Part of his empathy comes from his own background; working his way up from construction sites to the board rooms of Australia. As a consequence of his background he is well aware of his client’s needs to value practical, real world strategies and tactics they can put to immediate use.

He currently holds an honours Degree in Communication from Murdoch University and postgraduate qualifications in Education (BA hons, Grad Dip Ed). Terry has extensive experience in leadership and management at both corporate and community levels having sat on a range of boards across Australia.
