Deputy Vice Chancellor (Enterprise and International)- Professor Gary Martin

As Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Martin has responsibility for the University’s international affairs, domestic marketing and recruitment, system level policy and planning, university wide strategic planning, residential services, alumni, operating budget and funding policy and management information.
In relation to international affairs, Professor Martin has worked with overseas educational institutions to develop partnerships to facilitate the delivery of Murdoch courses in Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and Japan.
Immediately prior to his appointment to the position of Deputy ViceChancellor, Professor Martin was Executive Dean, Division of Arts and Executive Dean of the Division of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education at Murdoch University. Before moving into these senior positions, Professor Martin was Director of the Centre for Learning, Change and Development within the School of Education at Murdoch University.
Professor Martin’s area of academic expertise is human capital development. He has worked closely with government agencies, industry and the professions on a range of consultancy and research projects. These include the Western Australian Departments of Conservation and the Environment; Education and Training; Premier and Cabinet; and Treasury and Finance; and the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia. Within the international arena Professor Martin has led consultancy and training projects with the Singaporean Ministry of Finance, and DBSVickers Security (Singapore), and the National Institute of Education, Seychelles.
Professor Martin has particular expertise in the areas of adult learning and development, action learning, mentoring and competency development.
