Deputy Vice Chancellor- Mr Ian Callahan

Ian Callahan is Murdoch University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Corporate, leading a team responsible for the integration of DAWA and ARWA facilities into the campus facilities and the physical and commercial advancement of the biotech precinct within the campus.

This includes identifying and capitalising on the opportunities that exist with the convergence of Transit Oriented Development (TOD), tertiary hospital, private hospital, agriculture and university activities into a new vibrant southern hub of activity.

Ian also acts as the University’s commercial representative in the MWEP (Murdoch Westscheme Partnership) business that focuses on early stage commercialisation funding of Murdoch and other intellectual property.

Ian has been with the University for 18 months and has brought a diverse commercial background to the University executive.  Ian was the Managing Director and CEO of a public healthcare company for four years before joining Murdoch University.

Previously, Ian was the CFO - Asia Pacific for Hatch Engineers, CFO - International for Kaiser Engineers and General Manager - Finance for Australian Medical Enterprises.

In addition to his commercial experience in large corporate environments, Ian has a successful record in his personal capacity in start-up small businesses and in the consolidation and turnaround of poor performing small to medium businesses.
