Hire facilities

At Murdoch we offer a range of venues and facilities for our staff, students and the wider community to hire for meetings, conferences and events.


Whether you’re looking for a smaller space to host a workshop or a large lecture theatre for a community event, we offer a range of venues for hire at our Perth and Mandurah campuses. Our venue hire includes:

  • Lecture theatres
  • Courtyards, gardens and grounds
  • Seminar and tutorial rooms

Hire equipment and event services

We can help to arrange equipment for your event including trestle tables, chairs and directional signage to help people find your venue once they arrive at Murdoch.

If you’re hosting a large event, our team can also help coordinate services such as plumbers, electricians and security.

Please note, hire fees apply and your hire application needs to be lodged at least 10 days before your event.

You might need to hire audio visual equipment

When you’re organising an event, it’s important to check that your venue has the equipment you need, or that you have your own equipment that can be used.

Our lecture theatre facilities include data projectors and screens, sound facilities, microphones and whiteboards. You can hire portable devices, such as wireless microphones, lecture capture devices, data projectors and screens are available from the AV service counter in the library.

Remember to factor in parking requirements

If you will be on campus between 8am and 4.15pm you and your event attendees will need pay for visitors parking at $3.00 per hour.  Parking tickets are available from one of the designated ticket machines on campus in carparks 2, 3, 4, 5, & 7.

Parking on campus is free after 4.15pm on weekdays, and all day Saturday and Sunday in red, green and visitors ticket parking areas, except reserved and easy access bays.

Please note parking on verges is prohibited.

Security services on campus

To keep our campus secure and reduce risk to our staff and students, our Security Officers will open rooms only at the time for which it has been booked. For after hours and weekend bookings, our Security staff might ask to see your booking confirmation notification.

If you need to contact Security Services while you’re on campus, please call 9360 6262 or use the intercom system located at key points around campus.

You need a permit to serve alcohol

If you're planning to serve alcohol at your event, please email Space and Timetabling or call on 9360 7564 or 9360 7396. For bookings involving the consumption or sale of alcohol please complete Murdoch University’s Liquor Permit and return it signed with your event application form, and where necessary, provide a copy of your occasional liquor licence.

Please note, Murdoch University is a smoke–free environment and smoking is not permitted in any buildings on campus.

Does your event involve animals?

If you’re organising an event which involves animals being bought onto campus, our Space and Timetabling team need to know in advance:

  • The type and number of animals
  • The location and duration of time the animals will spend on campus

This is so that appropriate approvals from our animal ethics and Veterinary College can be obtained.

You may need council approval for public events

If you’re organising a community events such as a funfair, festival, event involving food vans, or loud music in one of our campus courtyards, you might need an approved City of Melville application as part of our venue hire process.
