Beef for a Better Planet: Inside the World Angus Forum 2025
By Jasmine Hill - Bachelor of Science (Animal Science and Animal Health) currently undertaking Honours (Animal Science)
The Neogen World Angus Forum 2025, hosted in Brisbane on May 7–8, drew together a global audience of industry leaders, breeders, researchers, agribusiness professionals and Angus enthusiasts to discuss the future of Angus cattle breeding and beef production.
Organised by Neogen and Angus Australia, the forum welcomed attendees from over 20 countries and offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Australian Angus production firsthand. The event commenced in Sydney with a welcome cruise on April 29 and continued with the AngusTREK, a multi-day journey through New South Wales. Along the way, participants visited leading Angus seedstock producers, feedlots, and reproductive facilities—each stop providing valuable insight into Australia’s progressive beef sector. As part of the Angus Trek, the Zoetis Angus Expo was held in Tamworth and featured the largest display of Angus cattle in the Southern Hemisphere, extensive trade displays, youth competitions, and more. The tour culminated in the two-day conference at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
With a central theme of “Beef for a Better Planet", the Brisbane forum delivered an engaging and thought-provoking mix of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and networking sessions. The event spotlighted leading voices in genetics, methane emission research, data science, and climate-resilient agriculture, with presentations and panel discussions that offered valuable insight into emerging technologies and market trends.
For many attendees, the forum was not just about learning—but also about connecting. Among them was Murdoch University BSc Hons student Jasmine Hill, who had the unique opportunity to “rub shoulders” at the Forum in Brisbane with some of the most influential names not only in the Angus world but with leading livestock companies.
Jasmine found that being in the same room as leading producers, researchers, and innovators from across the globe was truly inspiring. The chance to engage in real conversations with people shaping the future of our industry was a rare and valuable experience. These informal interactions allowed for the exchange of ideas, personal insights, and potential collaborations—something rarely possible in more structured settings. Whether over coffee between sessions or through booth visits, the atmosphere encouraged genuine dialogue and professional connection.
Special thanks go to Neogen and Angus Australia as well as the other sponsors for delivering such a professionally run and inspiring event. Their vision and dedication made the World Angus Forum 2025 not only a success, but a milestone in global beef industry engagement.
