My Unit Readings provides easy access to essential and recommended readings and textbooks for your unit or course, set by your unit coordinator.
Unit reading lists may contain links to print books, ebooks, journal articles, scanned items, websites or online videos. Your unit coordinator can organise items on a list by importance, topic, week or module. You can also see items which are marked for essential or recommended reading.
Access unit reading lists
You can access reading lists for your unit via MyMurdoch. Your unit coordinator may also embed part or all of the list alongside your learning material.
Alternatively, you can search for reading lists via My Unit Readings. Type in a unit name, unit code or unit coordinator name to search.
Once you’ve found the list, simply click on each item to see how you can access the reading. For online resources, click on ‘Available online’ or ‘View online’ for immediate access.
My Unit Readings allows you to sort list items, mark your reading intentions for list items and add personal notes.
Finding textbooks
Textbooks for your unit will be listed on the unit reading list in My Unit Readings. These items will be clearly labelled 'Textbook' in your list.
Where possible, the Library will have essential and recommended textbooks available as either a print or ebook. Availability of textbooks via the Library cannot be guaranteed due to limited print copies or online access licenses. Click ‘Available online’ for immediate access or ‘Check availability’ to see if a print version is available for loan from our High Demand Collection.
If you choose to purchase the textbook, click the 'The School Locker' link to confirm availability and price. The School Locker is the university’s textbook partner. You can also search directly on The School Locker website using your unit code.
Alternatively, Perlego allows you to access the textbook if you sign up for their paid subscription service. For more details, see Perlego. Please check your unit reading lists before considering Perlego as some textbooks may have limited availability or may not provide the access you require.
We would recommend comparing total textbook costs between The School Locker and Perlego each semester to ensure you get cost effective access to textbooks.
You can also choose to purchase textbooks from various other textbook providers or check The Secondhand Bookstore at The Guild.
The Library works with unit coordinators to ensure booklists in My Unit Readings are as accurate as possible. However, you may wish to confirm details with your unit coordinator directly before purchasing textbooks.
