As a member of the Library, you can borrow or request items from our collections at any of our libraries.
How to borrow
Use your Murdoch ID or library card to borrow items. We have self-check machines at the Geoffrey Bolton Library, Veterinary Library and Mandurah Campus Library - to borrow, simply scan your card then your items. Alternatively, take your items and card to the Library Help Desk.
Use My Library to track your borrowed items, requests and due dates.
Returning items
You can return borrowed items to any of our libraries, however High Demand collection loans must be returned to where they were borrowed from. Drop your items in the returns chute or use the self check machine to return your items.
Renewals
If you are a Murdoch University student or staff member, we will automatically renew your loans two times. If you need items for longer, you can renew them a further three times using My Library or at the self check machines in the Library. For all other members, renew your loans online using My Library.
Fines or replacement charges may be applied if items are not returned or renewed by the due date.
Recalls
If another user requests an item that you have on loan, the item will be recalled and assigned a new due date, of which you will be advised via email. You will need to return the item by the new due date in order to avoid fines or replacement charges.
Requesting
You can request print items from our collection to pick up from any of our campus libraries. To request an item for click and collect:
- Sign in to My Library
- Use Library Search to find the item you wish to request
- On the item record under Availability, click 'Request'
- Select a pickup location
- Leave a comment if necessary
- Click 'Send Request'
You will receive an email when your item is ready to collect, usually within 2 business days. Requested items currently on loan may take longer before they are ready for collection. To collect your item, speak to Library Help Desk staff at your nominated pickup location during opening hours. If collecting from the Veterinary Library, your item can be found on the hold shelf - use the self check machine to borrow. Eligible external students can request postage of items from our collection.
Fines and replacement charges
If you do not return items by the due date, fines or replacement charges maybe be applied to your Library account.

High Demand collection
Our High Demand collection holds priority items that can be used by Murdoch students and staff, within the collection area or
be borrowed for a short period of time. All other library members (includes Alumni, Community members) are not allowed to borrow from our High Demand collections.

Laptop loans
Laptops are available for loan to current Murdoch students at the Perth or Mandurah campuses.

or Mandurah Campus Library. Once you have your laptop, don’t forget to
install Murdoch recommended apps and tools including Office365.
