Borrowing from our libraries

As a member of the Library, you can borrow or request items from our collections at any of our libraries. Renew your items online using My Library. If an item you have on loan is requested by someone else, you'll get a recall notification via email.

How to borrow

Use your Murdoch ID or library card to borrow items. We have self-check machines at the Geoffrey Bolton Library and Veterinary Library - simply scan your card then your items. Alternatively, take your items and card to the help desk.

You can return your borrowed items to any of our libraries, however High Demand collection loans must be returned to where they were borrowed from. Ensure you return due or recalled items on time to avoid fines.

Laptop loans

Laptops are available for loan to current Murdoch students at the Perth or Mandurah campuses. You can borrow a laptop for a semester, ensuring you can complete your assignments and prepare for exams. Don’t forget to install Murdoch recommended apps and tools including Office365.

To borrow a laptop, visit the Help Desk at the Geoffrey Bolton Library or Mandurah Campus Library.

Renewing your loans

If you are a Murdoch University student or staff member, we will automatically renew your loans two times. If you need items for longer, you can renew them a further three times using My Library or at the self check machines in the Library.

High Demand items can be renewed once, except for High Demand loans from the Mandurah Campus Library. Log in to My Library or use the self check machines to renew.

BONUS+ loans will be automatically renewed two times unless another user has requested the item.

If you are a community, MIT, school, alumni or corporate member, renew your loans online using MyLibrary.

Fines may be applied if items are not returned or renewed by the due date.
