Bali Oral History Archive

The Bali Oral History Archive resulted from a research project on social and cultural change in Bali, carried out by Adrian Vickers, University of Wollongong and Carol Warren, School of Asian Studies at Murdoch University, with funding from the Australia Research Council. The collection consists of interviews with contemporary Balinese people describing their lives and their views on culture and change in their society in the 20th century. The interviews are in Balinese or Indonesian languages.

Celia Taylor Collection

Celia Mary Lumsden Taylor (1902-1991) was a member of many organisations including the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) (WA branch) and a founding member of the Australia-China Friendship Society (WA branch). Celia was very interested in Communist China and travelled there in 1966, 1967 and 1976 to visit kindergartens, children's hospitals and other establishments. The collection consists of Celia's photographic equipment, slides and photographs. Also monographs, magazines, pamphlets and artworks collected during her visits to Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

George Peet Collection

George Lamb Peet (1902-1985) joined the staff of The Straits Times in 1923 as a junior reporter, retiring from the newspaper in 1952 as its editor. He was interned in the Changi and Sime Road Prisoner of War camps during the Japanese occupation of Singapore. After retirement from The Straits Times, George settled in Perth where he continued to work for local newspapers until his final retirement in 1967. The collection consists of George’s personal library, letters, newspaper clippings and manuscripts (published and unpublished).

Jennifer Lindsay Collection

The Jennifer Lindsay Collection consists of research materials relating to the media in Indonesia from late new order to Post-Suharto era (Reformasi). Including radio broadcasting during the late 1990’s, recordings of television dubbing in the 1990’s, interview notes about dubbing and the pornography issue and material on broadcasting laws.

Publications of the Allied Geographical Section Collection

The Allied Geographical Section (AGS) was formed with the task of compiling all the available geographical intelligence on the largely unmapped and underexplored south-west Pacific area (SWPA). The collection consists of terrain studies, terrain handbooks and special reports of the Allied Geographical Section of the Allied Forces in World War II.
