Commercial farming services

We offer a full and comprehensive range of farm animal veterinary services including: 

  • Basic health and nutrition assessments  
  • Disease testing, surveillance and control  
  • Biosecurity and quarantine protocols 
  • Farm skills training including hoof trimming, AI and injection technique
  • Technical meetings on various farm animal topics including lameness, mastitis and nutrition
  • Vaccination planning and administration
  • Faecal worm egg counts and parasite control programs
  • Hoof trimming and lame cow treatments
  • Calf disbudding and castration 
  • Bull and ram pre-purchase and pre-breeding testing
  • Health, welfare and productivity investigations or reviews 
  • Emergency services during working hours (8am-4pm) for farms within 90 minutes of the hospital e.g. emergency euthanasia, livestock with injuries, sickness or dystocia (birthing complications).

Specialist reproduction services:

Our specialist reproduction services encompass a comprehensive range of procedures for various species, including but not limited to cattle and sheep. These services include sample collection, semen analysis with sperm morphological assessment, and semen preparation for artificial insemination and freezing. We also offer Ovum Pickup (OPU), embryo flushing and transfer in cattle and sheep. In addition, our team conducts clinical assessments of breeding potential, with AI and embryo transfer.

We have a newly renovated barn equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for a range of farm animals needing complex management, including surgical or emergency procedures, which can’t be managed on farm.

At The Animal Hospital, we actively promote continuous learning and proudly provide farmers with various training opportunities and certification programs in areas such as:

  • Medicines administration
  • Cattle lameness and hoof trimming
  • Aseptic techniques for intramammary treatments
  • Artificial insemination
  • Low-stress cattle handling
  • Youngstock health and management
