How our people are building a brighter future together, Holly Clegg

How Murdoch's people are building a brighter future, Holly Clegg

This is a shared journey that welcomes anyone who wants to make the world a better place. Meet Holly Clegg from our School of Nursing.

Lecturer, Unit Coordinator, Academic Lead for Simulation and Associate Dean of Engagement, Holly Clegg is busy working to ensure the next generation of nurses are equipped with the skills needed to provide quality care to our communities.

I am particularly focused on strengthening wound care knowledge and competence in graduating nurses, with the ultimate goal of improving wound care for all people living with wounds,” says Holly.

A registered Nurse with 20 years' experience, Holly has an extensive and varied clinical background in community and aged care nursing.

“I found a passion for teaching in clinical education and started as a casual tutor at Murdoch in 2015 before securing a position as lecturer in 2018. Now, l coordinate the community nursing unit and I am the Academic Lead for Simulation, and the Associate Dean of Engagement for the School of Nursing.”

The Simulation suites allow nursing students the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience. Students get the opportunity to practise their skills on lifelike, high-tech mannequins with pulses in all the correct anatomical locations, heart, lung and digestive sounds – as well as other realistic features.

For Holly, this experience is essential for students to be able to graduate real-world ready, which is why she is so passionate about raising awareness of the School of Nursing and its commitment to building a brighter future for all.

At the School of Nursing, Murdoch University’s commitment to sustainability can be seen throughout the Simulation suites.

“Sustainability is a big focus in our nursing simulation suites, we are striving to find more ways to recycle and reuse. One example of this would be sending our plastic forceps from dressing packs to wildlife centres to use for feeding baby birds and animals.”

At Murdoch University, our goal is to change lives and society for the better through accessible education and research, contributing to the solution of societal and environmental challenges and providing an inclusive, caring community in which everyone can realise their potential.

We are a shared journey to a brighter future.
