The technology sector is growing quickly and evolving, and graduates with up-to-date skills are in high demand.
We are fortunate to be living right in the middle of such a pivotal point in time: the information age. This is an era of digital revolution, of innovation and connectedness humankind has never seen before. The possibilities of what we could accomplish are limitless, which makes a potential career in this field really exciting.
Technology is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the country, and it’s estimated that by 2022 there will be an additional 29,000 jobs in Australia. Businesses of all descriptions are scrambling to hire people with modern technology skills and knowledge, so graduates with a tech degree are highly sought after.
Here are some career pathways for you to consider:
What job can I get with a degree in games technology?Take your passion for gaming and turn it into a career where you can flex your creative and intellectual muscles at the same time. This Bachelor of Science will prepare you for a career as a games designer where you’ll help plan and develop concepts, scenarios, rules, and characters for games to be played on range of devices.
The skills you acquire won’t just be for games though. You’ll also learn how to develop and program software for simulation engines, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, so there are lots of different careers you can have with this game design course.
What job can I get with a degree in cyber security and forensics?
With so much of our life online, it makes sense that we need professionals who know how to protect computers, programs, networks and our data from attacks. With this degree you’re equipped for a career as a cyber security analyst who has this responsibility.
You could also be a network security specialist who makes sure a business’s systems are safe, maintained and upgraded. There’s also the option to be a computer forensic investigator who works alongside law enforcement to recover and analyse data from computers and other storage devices. Or, you could become a hacker (an ethical one, anyway) who puts on their detective hat to find weaknesses in systems and programs.

Programmers are coding language specialists. They are the attention-to-detail types writing the instructions so visitors to a website or app experience the program as the software developers and engineers envisioned. A software developer works in a broader capacity. They are the organised creatives who help manage the project from start to finish, liaising with clients in designing, planning, testing and troubleshooting.
What job can I get with a degree in mobile and web application development?
Apps are everywhere and we can do so many things with them – get fit, play games, be creative with photos, do the banking, get directions, or find love – really, just about anything you can think of!
Our graduates can become mobile app developers, designing and programming apps for iOS and Android devices, or in web development creating online forms, shopping carts and spreadsheets. You’ll also be trained for a career as a computer systems and network administrator, a software engineer, a systems analyst, or programmer, if that’s what you’d prefer.
What job can I get with a degree in physics and nanotechnology? If you’re fascinated by physics but you also want to work with cutting edge technology to tackle real-world day-to-day problems, consider enrolling in this degree. What is it, you’re wondering? Nanotechnology works with materials on an incredibly tiny scale. For example, a strand of human DNA is 2.5 nanometres wide and a pinhead is one million nanometres wide.
Your knowledge could be applied to research, education, product development, quantitative analysis, astronomy, or medical physics. For example, you could become a biostatistician, working alongside statisticians and scientists in clinical trials. You might also like to work as a meteorologist or mathematician.
What job can I get with a degree in business information systems?
Interested in business and technology equally? This could be for you.
All businesses nowadays are reliant on technology to help organise and streamline their services and improve productivity (when was the last time you saw a business using handwritten client cards?). Business information systems make sure an organisation’s data is organised and stored correctly. For example, reports, transactions, client databases, or stock control systems.
After graduating this course, there’s the option to work as a business analyst, a systems analyst, a database administrator or a project manager.
