Get to know the Murdoch Business School

The world has changed and universities should not only stay ahead of what’s happening, but be at the centre of bright ideas and cutting edge developments. That’s exactly what we strive for at the Murdoch Business School.

Some of the biggest innovations that have transformed society have emerged from the business world. They’ve come from the analytical minds of leaders wanting to meet the needs of customers, from plucky newcomers with a lofty dream, or from someone who wondered whether there could be a better or more simplified way to do their job.

Could you picture yourself in business too? Get to know what we’re about at the Murdoch Business School.

What’s special about the Murdoch Business School?

Business is always evolving. To match the pace of change, we offer a versatile curriculum that allows our students to specialise in one or two specific fields, and we continually liaise with industry contacts and an alumni board to keep our courses relevant and modern.

Our students have access to a range of experiences in order to thrive post-university. These include: an immersive VR technology (we’re the first university in Australia to offer this); Launchpad, an invaluable platform bringing businesses, start-ups, students and academics together; work placements with major organisations; entrepreneurial support; mentoring programs; competitions; volunteering; career fairs; and study abroad!

Learn more about what’s on offer, and decide whether a career in business suits you.

In line with Murdoch’s Ngala Kwop Biddi, Building a Brighter Future, Together strategy to respect and advance First Nations people, our school is also involved in the National Indigenous Business Summer School, an initiative for young people across Western Australia to explore opportunities in business and commerce.

Murdoch University has a Five-star rating for learner engagement, learning resources, skills development and student support in Business and Management

Meet your academics

We pride ourselves on encouraging scientific inquiry, critical thinking, healthy competition, innovation, and creativity to transform business and society. We prepare students for the complex challenge of leading companies whilst preserving long-term prosperity for the planet.

Your academics are experienced professionals who bring real-world experience and cutting edge research to the classroom.

Our International Business degree is the only one of its kind in WA.

A fork in the road: your life, your career path

Could you see yourself working on edgy marketing campaigns in a fast-paced agency? In a high-risk environment managing huge wealth funds? Perhaps you’re a detail-oriented person who finds it satisfying to have all your ducks in a row, with everything organised? There’s a business degree to suit all the above!

Our undergraduate Bachelor of Business offers majors in:

  • Accounting
  • Business Law
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • Finance
  • Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • International Business
  • Management, and
  • Marketing.

Choose to major in just one of these areas, pick a double major, or even a double degree to expand your options. There are also postgraduate courses to take the next step in your career like MBA student Jennifer Weigandt who won a coveted EY award.

Many of our graduates have gone on to be exceptionally successful. You could follow in their footsteps as CEO of an international airline, deputy prime minister, head of a major bank, or the managing director of an advertising agency. While you could have the determination to be like these high-flyers, you can also enjoy life as a quiet achiever with a great work-life balance. That’s the beauty of a business degree.

We support all our graduates as they tread their own paths. Learn more about careers in business.

We’re building a brighter future, together

We’ve been a trailblazing university right from the beginning. While Murdoch was Western Australia’s second university, we were the first in Australia to break the traditional mould – with non-traditional entry, providing distance education, and in environmental and sustainability studies.

These progressive ethos are precisely what’s needed in the future of business – and for the planet. Will you be part of the change?
