Welcome to our new Veterinarians in Training
For students in their final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine course, the Badge Ceremony represents an important and symbolic event, signifying their transition into veterinary practice.
This ceremony celebrates the journey our students have taken from theoretical foundations to hands‑on clinical application, symbolised by the awarding of a name badge that identifies them as a “Veterinarian in Training.”
Final year is a pivotal stage in veterinary education, where students consolidate their development as lifelong learners. Throughout the year, they rotate through a variety of clinical settings, working with real-life cases under the guidance of experienced veterinarians. As they navigate the challenges of clinical practice, they grow in confidence, strengthen their professional judgement, and prepare for the responsibilities of becoming veterinarians.
During this year, students also forge strong and lasting connections with their peers and mentors—relationships that often continue well beyond graduation. Receiving the badge is an important and proud moment for them. It signals their readiness to step into the clinical environment and apply the depth of knowledge and experience they have built over the past four years. It also serves as a tangible reminder of their commitment to the veterinary profession and their dedication to animal health and welfare.
Congratulations to the DVM5 Class of 2026!
We look forward to supporting your learning, growth, and success throughout the year ahead.
