About the school

Since the graduation of our inaugural class in 1979, our free-thinking, inclusive ethos has underpinned our mission: to engage with industry and community to train the practitioners of the future, deliver research with impact and purpose and to advance excellence in veterinary science. With integrity and excellence at the heart our vision, our staff and students passionately promote the health, welfare and productivity of pets and animals, big and small.
Our teaching facilities
From a fully-functioning farm to a state-of-the-art commercial veterinary hospital, our teaching, research and business facilities at our South Street campus in Perth are unrivalled and provide you with a breadth of hands-on experience before you graduate.

On-campus farm
Our South Street campus in Perth comprises a 51-hectare farm in which you can develop your skills in animal handling, clinical examinations, breeding soundness examinations and sample collection. Murdoch also runs the 40-hectare Mundijong Farm and 80-hectare Mardella Farm.

Surgery and laboratory facilities
Throughout your veterinary degree, you’ll gain real-life experience in our suite of surgery and laboratory facilities including classes in anaesthesia, medical examinations, animal handling and surgery.

Veterinary Anatomy Museum
At the core of any veterinarians training is the understanding of animal anatomy. To complement our anatomy classes, in which you’ll dissect a variety of domestic species, our Anatomy Museum allows you to examine and understand animals inside and out.

The Animal Hospital
The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University is a fully-functioning veterinary hospital in which you’ll take your classroom theory and apply it in a real-life context. The hospital offers treatment and care to household pets, exotic animals, farm animals and horses.
