Scholarship Success for MMFS undergraduate students
Every year there are a number of great opportunities for students to apply for additional support in their chosen field of study that align with Murdoch values and courses.
The school of MMFS encourages students, or potential students to consider applying for The Westpac Young Technologists scholarship and the Ngala Kwop Biddi scholarship, both of which are currently accepting applications.
Meet Our MMFS 2025 winners
Brooke Powell was awarded both a Westpac Young Technologists scholarship and a Ngala Kwop Biddi scholarship. She attended Quinns Baptist College, where she developed a keen interest in science, particularly in understanding human physiology.
With a longstanding fascination for crime shows, Brooke is currently pursuing a double major in Biomedical Science and Forensic Biology and Toxicology. She values the breadth of career opportunities afforded by her dual specialisation.
Brooke regards the Westpac Scholarship as instrumental to her academic and professional development, providing her with leadership training opportunities in Sydney and Singapore, where she gained valuable skills and became part of a vibrant network of inspiring individuals.
Currently in her second year, Brooke is undertaking a semester abroad at the University of Victoria in Canada. Alongside her studies, she works as Student Ambassador for the Murdoch University Future Students team, where she shares her experiences with high school students and their families.
Eyerusalem Achamyeleh, a first-year student studying genetics and molecular biology in MMFS, also received a Westpac Young Technologists Scholarship, marking a significant milestone in her remarkable journey. Originally from Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, Eyerusalem's enthusiasm for genetics and molecular biology was ignited by her biology teacher in years 11 and 12 at Morley Senior High School. Eyerusalem's experiences at the Westpac Young Technologists Summit taught her about the importance of networking and building connections, as well as the necessity of prioritising wellbeing.
Congratulations once again to Brooke and Eyerusalem on their remarkable achievements. We look forward to seeing more students follow in their footsteps in the coming years.
