Environmental and Conservation Sciences are primarily practical-based disciplines. We as researchers with broad expertise of the natural world and the way humans interact with it, and through our teaching we immerse our students in that world: learning by experience from doing field work, laboratory work, working with data and participating in real-world research projects.
These practical skills are required by employers and valued by students. Working with the world’s conservation and environmental issues firsthand provides a unique inspirational experience and an understanding of the natural world which consolidates that gained through classroom study.
Murdoch’s bush campus is located in the south-western Australian biodiversity hotspot (we have rare and threatened banksia woodland, wetlands, plants and animals on campus). We have the beautiful marine environment on our doorstep. We make the most of our location to provide valuable learning experiences for students.
