The Murdoch University logo is the most visible representation of our brand.

It provides recognition and builds equity in our brand. For maximum impact it is important that the Murdoch Logo is used correctly and consistently across all applications. It is an asset for our University and provides a legal trademark and guarantee of quality for all the products that carry the mark.

The Wordmark

Our Wordmark is the official brandmark to represent the university and must be used in its entirety without alteration.

The Murdoch University logo downloadable files are set into two categories for ease of use, and to ensure the best application for the medium they will be visible in. This includes files for PRINTED material application and files for DIGITAL application.

To ensure clarity and quality for printed materials a higher resolution logo file is required. Using the digital logo for printed material can result in a blurry logo. Also, the RED version of the logo has a different colour break-down setting for print and digital material. To avoid this, please download the correct file type to match your final material output.

If you are unsure which file type to use, please contact the Marketing and Communications Office and we will be happy to provide the guidance you require.

Key considerations for logo usage

With the exception of images, the Wordmark should only be used with the Murdoch Primary Colours of red, black or white.

Here are the preferred colour combinations, circumstances for use and omissions.

Logo on background usage

If you intend to use the Wordmark on a colour background please seek assistance from the Marketing and Communications Office on the best logo file to use to ensure that the logo is readable and meets the required accessibility guidelines.

The following are examples of ways in which the Wordmark or Supporting Text must not be used.

Inccorect use of logo

Please refer to the Murdoch University Style Guide for direction on the correct use of the logo.

The Murdoch logo is considered the master brand at all times.

When an organisation is made up of multiple components, such as Murdoch, (many of which are in the public eye) it’s increasingly important to ensure that the branding and visual representation is consistent and strong. This means avoiding multiple conflicting messages and images – including logos.

No other logos are permitted to be used unless approved as stipulated in the Brand Policy.

See the Brand Style Guideline for more information.

Murdoch University’s name or logo may be used in marketing and publicity materials relating to the University if the following conditions are met:

  1. If there is an official relationship between the University and the organisation (for example a partnership, sponsorship or professional association).
  2. The logo usage must comply with Murdoch’s style guidelines (note minimum size of 6mm high);
  3. The layout of each publication is endorsed by the Marketing and Communications Office.
  4. The logo is approved by the Marketing and Communications Officer for each occasion of its use;
  5. The content is approved by the Marketing and Communications Office, Murdoch’s International Office and/or the relevant Colleges or Centers.
  6. All production (and associated cost) of the materials are the responsibility of the third party.
