The School of Nursing at Murdoch University believes that by promoting a culture of life-long learning and empowering our student population, we can contribute to the enhancement of the nursing profession. Our team of dedicated academics is passionate about nursing education, across undergraduate, postgraduate, and Higher Degree by Research, providing a foundation for safe, compassionate Strengths-Based nursing care across the lifespan to improve health and wellbeing for all people.

We are committed to fostering excellence and supporting the development of future nursing professionals. Our Bachelor of Nursing degree provides an evidence-based learning environment that empowers students to develop the skills, knowledge, and attributes to become Strengths-Based Registered Nurses, who work with people and communities to positively influence health and wellbeing. Graduates of this course are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

A diverse range of postgraduate courses, focusing on areas of health and workforce priority, is also available for Registered Nurses and healthcare professionals interested in advancing their careers in contemporary healthcare settings. In these courses, students will gain the advanced skills, knowledge, and attributes required to meet the demands of national and international healthcare systems.

The School of Nursing is home to a vibrant team of researchers with diverse interests and expertise across multiple areas. Our strong partnerships with industry provide valuable opportunities to generate and translate evidence into practice, driving innovation to improve health outcomes and build a skilled, resilient healthcare workforce.

Welcoming Professor Frank Donnelly

Professor Frank Donnelly

The School of Nursing at MU is happy to announce that Professor Frank Donnelly has joined the team.

Professor Donnelly has experience working within and as previous Head of a School of Nursing in Adelaide. He has a wide range of knowledge and skills across teaching, learning and curriculum development and is a Senior Fellow of the HEA with evidence primarily concerning the scholarship of nursing education within his research. The school is particularly excited about Franks expertise with ANMAC Accreditation and Clinical Facilitation, as he has been on committees both with ANMAC and the Council of Deans of Nursing and Midwifery and has led projects with both of those major nursing and midwifery bodies.

 Frank has capacity for representational roles at all levels of the University as well as experience in building a school through growth in innovative programs and through international outreach.

The Dean of Nursing A/Professor Vicki Cope said: “We believe the skills and expertise Frank brings to the school will assist the school to thrive. Frank has strong awareness of the MU strategic pillars and ethos and his knowledge and based on his professional enthusiasm and work ethic, as well as his transformational leadership style through reserved and thoughtful contemplation of needs,  he will bring a strong, supportive presence to the nursing team, as well as fresh perspective to our new curriculum development”.

The School of Nursing extends to Professor Frank Donnelly a warm welcome. We look forward to you being a long and successful member of our team- welcome back to WA, and to working with us on the lands of the Whadjuk and Binjareb peoples – that is, on both our campuses, with Murdoch and Mandurah both being special places of education and healing.
