The Murdoch University School of Nursing proudly showcased nursing education and career opportunities at the 2026 Dowerin Field Days, connecting with regional communities, prospective students and healthcare partners from across Western Australia.

The Murdoch University School of Nursing proudly participated in the 2026 Dowerin Field Days, engaging with hundreds of visitors from across regional Western Australia and showcasing the diverse opportunities available in nursing education and healthcare careers.

As the only university represented at the event, the School of Nursing team welcomed a steady stream of visitors throughout the two-day event. Interactive activities including virtual reality experiences, Resus Annie demonstrations and staple removal activities proved particularly popular, providing opportunities for school students, families and healthcare professionals to learn more about nursing and study options at Murdoch University.

The event highlighted the importance of building long-term relationships with regional communities. Staff had the opportunity to speak with prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students, local healthcare providers, and community organisations, reinforcing Murdoch University's commitment to supporting regional and rural Australia.

The team also connected with representatives from WA Country Health Service (WACHS), private healthcare providers and Lumen, a Wheatbelt study hub that supports regional students. These conversations have the potential to strengthen future placement opportunities, postgraduate recruitment pathways and community partnerships.

Associate Dean (Engagement), Dr Martina Costello, said the event demonstrated the value of maintaining a consistent presence in regional communities.

"Every conversation and interaction helps strengthen Murdoch University's profile and builds awareness of the opportunities available through nursing education. Engagement with regional communities is a long-term investment, and we are committed to continuing these important relationships."

The School extends its sincere thanks to lecturers Shamim Sarvaryan, Matt Salvador and Hollie Tinetti for representing Murdoch University with such enthusiasm and dedication throughout the event. Thanks are also extended to Kim MacTavish and the School's laboratory staff, whose support in preparing resources, demonstrations and equipment helped make both the Dowerin Field Days and recent School Open Evening such a success.

The School of Nursing looks forward to building on the success of this year's event and continuing to engage with regional communities across Western Australia.
