Matt Salvador has successfully become an Australian Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor.

Matt Salvador is a Nursing Lecturer and Mental Health First Aid instructor who supports staff and students to build skills in recognising and responding to mental health challenges.

Matt Salvador is a Nursing Lecturer and unit coordinator for two undergraduate mental health (MH) units, and one post-graduate MH unit. Matt became an accredited Mental Health First Aider for the workplace in January 2026. During S1,

Matt coordinated the standard MHFA training for health professional students, facilitating 320 nursing students to successfully complete all eLearning modules. The national council of Deans Nursing and midwifery (CDNM) acknowledged this as the highest health professional student’s completion rate amongst all Australian universities.

The CDNM funded Matt’s recent MHFA instructor intense five-day training in June. Matt is available to instruct any interested staff and/or students in becoming an accredited Mental Health First Aider.

This course teaches skills for providing initial help to a person who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
