Open to a career in Engineering and Energy

Open to a career in Engineering and Energy Day

Do you ever wonder how we can transform energy from wind, waves, and the sun into electricity? Maybe you’re interested in getting hands-on with autonomous and industrial systems?

Or does the idea of informing industry and government on sustainable and environmental engineering practices excite you?

If so, it sounds like you’re open to a career in Engineering and Energy!

We offer direct entry to our Bachelor of Engineering Honours, a four-year degree allowing you to apply everything you learn in your first three years of study on an individual research or industry-based project in an area of interest for you. You’ll gain over 450 hours of real work experience to set you up for success when you graduate.

Our graduates are changing the face of engineering, from designing clean drinking water supply systems in Bali to influencing Australia’s building industry by creating and producing lowcost, lowcarbon cement right here in WA, and everything in between.

Bachelor of Engineering Technology, our three-year undergraduate course, opens you up to countless career opportunities across mining, oil and gas, government, and the sustainability and renewables sectors.

So, what majors can you study in Engineering and Energy? We have three unique majors to choose from: Industrial and Automation Control EngineeringElectrical and Renewable Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. Each providing you with a different skillset for specific career pathways.

Industrial and Automation Control Engineering will equip you with the skills to operate and automate machines and industrial processes in factories, plants, and other infrastructure. You’ll also have access to our Bayer- Pilot Plant, an engineer’s playground, featuring real-world engineering plant equipment.

If Electrical and Renewable Energy sparks your interest, this major is for you. You’ll explore a wide range of power systems including generators, distributed energy resources, renewable energy technologies, and transmission and distribution systems. As a renewable energy student, you’ll also get hands-on experience with our rooftop solar plant and assess the performance of solar water pumping systems.

If you want to make an impact on our environment through sustainability, Environmental Engineering will give you a global perspective and an ethical approach to environmentally engineered systems across a wide range of industries. You’ll explore environmental technologies for sustainability, the principles of water conservation and auditing, and investigate pollution and its control, particularly the relationship between wastewater and pollution.

The places you could go

Bachelor of Engineering Technology opens a broad range of career opportunities, including roles such as environmental technologist, sustainability consultant, electrical engineering or energy technologist, electrical power systems operator, or automation, instrumentation, or control systems technician. And the best way we prepare you for these careers is through over 300 hours of real work experience while you study.

A Bachelor of Engineering Technology is more than a degree, it’s the launchpad for a brighter future.

Come along to Open Day on 28 March 2026 and discover what you might be open to!
