The Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor Sustainability provides support and guidance to the University strategic initiatives across research, education, engagement and operations. We draw on the wealth of knowledge and expertise across the University and engage with students and key partners to ensure a sustainability ethos is woven into the fabric of everything we do at Murdoch University.

As Pro Vice Chancellor Sustainability, Martin is responsible for supporting and encouraging the University in education, teaching, and translational research in sustainability. Martin is proud lead solutions for a better and more sustainable world and a university renowned for its commitment to sustainability and environment. For the last 20 years Martin has been a sustainability scholar and researcher including 12 years at Murdoch University.

Leah is a proud Murdoch alumna (2008) with a BA Sustainable Development (Hons) and has been working and leading in the sustainability space since then, including joining Murdoch as the inaugural Sustainability Officer in 2011 and the Sustainability Manager from 2014. Her special areas of interest are biodiversity conservation and volunteerism/citizen science as a hands-on way to drive behaviour change across all the pillars of sustainability. Leah is passionate about biodiversity management around the campus and actively engages with community groups.

Deanne has experience in local and state government both in Perth and the UK. Deanne has a background in ecology, environmental management and sustainability including policy development, delivering energy and water reduction plans, and reducing waste to landfill. At Murdoch, Deanne looks after the portfolios of waste and active transport, with goals to achieve Ngala Kwop Biddi by transitioning the campus to a more circular economy and move away from single occupant car journeys to encourage public transport, cycling, or walking to campus.

A strategic, big-picture thinker, with extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, Siobhan is working with sustainability stakeholders to design and operationalise Murdoch University’s Sustainability Strategic Framework and Strategy aligned with Ngala Kwop Biddi. With a background in communications, education and organisational development, Siobhan is energised by working with others to create positive change and passionate about cultivating authentic partnerships and embedding First Nations knowledges to ensure sustainability approaches are guided by expert knowledge and best-practice.
