One of its recent graduates, Teshani Kumarasinghe, who completed a Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security and Networking), shares her journey and achievements, highlighting the university's supportive environment and the valuable skills gained.

Choosing Murdoch University

The decision to enrol at Murdoch was driven by the flexibility and variety within the master’s course. "The options within the course and the flexibility to make a final choice within the first two weeks were crucial," Teshani explains. The smooth admission process, coupled with the great support and responsiveness from the staff, made Murdoch an obvious choice.

Building a Strong Foundation

Throughout the program, Teshani developed a strong foundation in networking, thanks to the well-designed labs. These practical experiences prepared her well for the industry. Additionally, opportunities to serve as a Peer Academic Coach and a Peer Assisted Study Session Leader helped build confidence and leadership skills.

Real-World Experience

A highlight of Teshani's time at Murdoch was completing two internships, which were crucial for building industry connections. The second internship, secured through a Unit Coordinator's introduction, led to her current role as an IT Support Engineer at the same company.

Looking ahead, Teshani plans to delve deeper into network security and infrastructure design. The skills and confidence gained at Murdoch have laid a solid foundation for a promising career in IT.
