The National Priorities and Industry Partnerships (NPILF)
Empowered by The National Priorities and Industry Partnership Funding (NPILF), Murdoch Business School Advances its Educational Landscape through Industry Co-Design and Real-World Learning.
Upon securing funding from the NPILF project, the Accounting and Finance department at Murdoch Business School arranged a roundtable event that brought together a range of highly experienced industry experts to contribute to the evolution of the Accounting for Managers unit for postgraduate students.
Diverse professionals, representing various sectors, actively participated in shaping the future of education. Esteemed individuals from organizations such as The Culture Factor Group, CAANZ, Hesperia, Buurabalayji Thalanyji Aboriginal Corporation, Eagle Shared Services, Ngala, BDO, CPA, and Rio Tinto lent their expertise to the discussions.
Such collaborative endeavours exemplify Murdoch Business School’s commitment to propelling innovation and excellence in education. By bringing together academia and industry, we create a learning environment that prepares our students for the challenges and opportunities of the real world.
Following the co-design, as part of the MBS539 Accounting for Managers unit, groups of MBS postgraduate students presented their real- world case business plans to a group of industry professionals who provide feedback just like investors in the real-world setting.
Comments received from students: "It was an amazing experience, and I gained a lot of valuable insights from the feedback provided and questions asked by the experts."
Key Highlights:
Industry Engagement: Through the NPILF project, 70% of students enrolled in a business degree have had the opportunity to engage directly with their profession. This hands-on experience is invaluable, fostering real-world connections and practical insights.
Collaborative Success: The collaboration between our academic staff and industry professionals has been instrumental in enriching our educational offerings. This partnership ensures that our units remain relevant and aligned with current industry standards and practices.
“I underscore the importance of co-designing academic units to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the dynamic realities of the business landscape. This ensures that students receive a well-rounded education.” (Professor Antonia Girardi, Dean Murdoch Business School).
