Murdoch Business School Reaches Out to Western Australia High School Students through the WA Illuminate Challenge 2024 Program.
Murdoch Business School has long been a proud supporter of the Illuminate Challenge, a flagship program by Illuminate Education Australia. This program takes students through a five-day innovation process. This year, the Murdoch Business School hosted high school students for the 2024 Illuminate Challenge, focusing on addressing the digital inequity gap identified in their local area. This theme aligns perfectly with MBS’s commitment to lifelong learning and contributes to Murdoch University’s 2023-2030 strategic goals in sustainability, equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
Nearly 200 students from five schools participated in three action-packed days at the Murdoch campus, experiencing what studying at Murdoch is like and becoming familiar with the amazing spaces on campus, particularly Building 360 - Boola Katitjin.
“Murdoch Business School was instrumental in this journey, offering invaluable support, encouragement,
and expert evaluation of the students’ innovative proposals”
While all the program participants learned what it takes to get a new idea up and running, they also stretched themselves in a range of skills required to lead and drive change. MBS welcomed the students on day one at Boola Katitjin, offering encouragement. At the closing ceremony, many winning groups were congratulated and reminded that the collaboration skills and insights gained from this competition will serve them well beyond this experience. Many MBS staff lent their expertise in judging, marking, and scoring the students’ proposals.
