Murdoch Business School proudly marked the commencement of the 2025 Graduate Certificate in Business (Executive Leadership and Management) with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Opening Ceremony. This long-standing partnership continues to bring together senior leaders from across Western Australia’s emergency management landscape, fostering a dynamic academic environment that supports leadership excellence and cross-agency collaboration.

Now in its second decade, the program remains a cornerstone of DFES’ Academic and Leadership Program. It has consistently delivered high-impact learning experiences tailored to the unique challenges of emergency services leadership. This year, the program welcomes participants from a broad range of government departments, including:

• Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions
• Department of Justice
• Western Australia Police Force
• Department of Transport
• Department of Communities
• Department of Water and Environmental Regulation

Participants will engage in a Program Orientation Workshop followed by four intensive units: People and Performance, Effective Leadership, Cultural Competence, and Developing Strategic Intelligence. These units are designed to equip leaders with the skills and insights needed to navigate complex, multi-agency environments with confidence and clarity.

The inclusion of diverse agencies enriches the learning experience, offering a wealth of perspectives that reflect the interconnected nature of emergency and public service leadership. Through shared learning and collaboration, the program continues to build a strong foundation for strategic thinking, cultural awareness, and high-performance leadership.
