Collaboratively enhancing food accessibility, safety, sustainability, and nutrition.

The State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre (SABC) is a platform that provides access to world class research facilities such as genomics sequencing machines, equipment, greenhouses, and laboratories for researchers from the WA government, and industry. At any time 15-20 diverse research groups and companies rent the well-resourced teaching and facilities at across the disciplines of:

Meet Professor Rajeev Varshney

Director of the State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre

I am proud of the cutting-edge research facilities that SABC continues to provide for local, national, and international research organisations and companies in the R&D space for both agricultural and veterinary science. Connecting and collaborating with research groups, scientists, and industry drives what we do here at Murdoch University.

As a research centre, we continue to contribute to the Australian agricultural industry by keeping our growers locally and internationally competitive. It's also inherently important that SABC aligns its research activities with Murdoch University's sustainability theme and values and that the Centre continues to invest in the next generation of scientists for Australian and international agriculture. In addition, we thoughtfully train and collaborate with researchers from developing countries in the areas of food and nutrition security - working towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

If you are seeking state-of-the-art facilities in R&D in broadacre or horticultural crops, veterinary or biomedical research, or wish to get exposure/collaborate in modern genomics and biotechnology, the SABC is the best place!
