Are you a high school student considering a career in Engineering? How exciting! While there are no prerequisite subjects to study a Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Honours at Murdoch University, these subjects can get you ahead of the game.

Start with confident communication skills in English ATAR or English Literature ATAR. These will not only help you qualify for an ATAR but also provide you with transferable skills that you’ll take into your future studies and career.

Engineering Studies ATAR

Dive straight into it with Engineering Studies ATAR. This course introduces you to what a career in Engineering could look like with a blend of hands-on and theory-based learning. You will gain an understanding of engineering processes, develop technical skills, and explore the role of engineering in society.

Earth and Environmental Science ATAR

Interested in how your work will impact your environment? Earth and Environment Science ATAR encourages you to get curious about the world around you and dive into the pros and cons of the mining and energy industry in Western Australia. Earth and Environmental Science ATAR is an excellent subject if you want to study our Environmental Engineering major.

Chemistry ATAR

Love seeing a chemical reaction? Jump into Chemistry ATAR, where you will get hands-on learning about chemical systems, structures and properties. You’ll deepen your knowledge of resource management, like minerals, oil, and gas, and be able to identify hazards that you may face on the job as an Engineer and during your Engineering studies at Murdoch University.

Physics ATAR

Launch yourself into all things space and what makes the world go round. In Physics ATAR, you’ll learn about things as small as quantum leaps inside an atom’s electron cloud to things as big as black holes! Physics will be a core subject of your studies in any one of our Engineering Technology majors.

Mathematics ATAR

Do you appreciate numbers and statistics? You can choose between Mathematics Applications, Mathematics Methods or Mathematics Specialist ATAR (if you’re up for the challenge). These subjects will help you tackle calculus and general physics equations on your Engineering journey.

The good news is any ATAR subject can help build transferable skills for your Engineering career. So, if your timetable looks different, don’t stress, you can still succeed.
