With enrolled nurses providing crucial care for patients worldwide, there is a significant need for flexibility during academic studies.

The Enrolled Nursing Accelerated Pathway (ENAP) blends online learning with on-campus intensives, allowing students to work in health services while completing the same number of units and practical placements as in the extended course.

In alignment with the University’s dedication to pliability when it comes to each student’s life, work, family and study balance, ENAP will provide graduates with their qualification in 18 months.

School of Nursing lecturer Jacinta Berlingeri, coordinator of ENAP, said enrolled nurses were a critical asset in delivering care to patients within the healthcare system, and it was important to provide them with flexibility.

At Murdoch, we are providing education and training with minimal days on campus – less days on campus allows enrolled nurses to continue to provide clinical support in the hospitals, aged care and all other clinical areas,” Ms Berlingeri said.

The ENAP qualification is equivalent to the Bachelor of Nursing in a shorter time span because enrolled nurses have already completed a large component of the education and clinical components of the degree.

Ms Berlingeri said the program would provide a platform for ongoing professional development and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving in the workplace.

In addition, it would help to ease the burden of staff shortages across the healthcare sector.
One of the many challenges of university workload, Ms Berlingeri said, was that it could be difficult for students to find a balance between work and study, and ENAP would help to bridge that gap.

To be eligible for ENAP, students:

  • Must have completed the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing HLT54121 or HLT54115 with modules CHCDIV001 and CHCDIV002.

  • Must be registered with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse

  • Must have current registration without any restrictions

  • Must remain as a full-time enrolment throughout the program
