To honour the University and the Art Collection reaching their 50th anniversaries in 2024, a very special fundraising campaign was launched in October 2022.
Championed by inspirational Art Collection Board member, scholarship bequestor, and Distinguished Alumni recipient, Tony Chong, the Gold Horizon Artwork Fundraising Campaign is looking to raise $40,000 to acquire an exquisite painting titled Spectrumfigure XIV by one of Australia’s most esteemed senior artists, John Young Zerunge AM.
In addition to celebrating the Collection’s 50th Anniversary, Spectrumfigure XIV will serve as an important cornerstone artwork, expanding the University’s Art Collection which is displayed throughout Murdoch’s campuses.
The artwork is currently on public display at Murdoch University’s Art Gallery as part of an energetic and uplifting exhibition titled Chroma. This exhibition title takes its name from the Greek word chrôma, which refers to the purity, intensity or saturation of a colour.
The exhibition features a selection of vibrant contemporary artworks from the University’s Art Collection, which all explore colour in very different ways.
Murdoch University and the Art Collection Board would like to thank all the individuals who have already donated to help secure this significant acquisition by a leading Australian artist.
