Open to a career in Physical Sciences and Mathematics

Open to a career in Physical Sciences and Mathematics Day

Does maths and all things numbers come easily to you? Do you get hot for an exothermic reaction? Or maybe you love studying things in motion?

If so, then our Physical Sciences and Mathematics courses are for you!

Is it maths that you’re passionate about? Check out our Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Science). Or are you excited about Chemistry or Physics? Explore our Bachelor of Science (Physical Sciences). What’s great about these degrees is that they have a wide range of applications and can be taken together or combined with other courses across our university, including Information TechnologyEnvironmental and Conservation SciencesEngineering and more.

In our Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Science), you can major in Mathematics and Statistics. You’ll develop a flexible outlook, gain a range of technical skills, and build a deep understanding of how mathematics and statistics are applied in a variety of contexts. Mathematical and statistical skills are in high demand almost everywhere, from science to government, banking, artificial intelligence, agriculture, and medicine, to name a few.

Are you curious about how the world works? Our Bachelor of Science (Physical Sciences) lets you dive deep into the fundamentals of Chemistry or Physics. Choose Chemistry if you’re fascinated by the biochemistry of medicines, the electrochemistry behind next generation batteries, Forensics Science or the biomolecular science shaping new technologies. Or explore Physics, where you’ll build powerful skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and innovation while investigating the nature of light, heat, sound, motion, gravity, electricity and more. Whichever path you choose, you’ll gain hands-on experience, future ready skills and a degree that opens doors to exciting scientific careers and Industry alike

The places you could go

Our Physical Sciences and Mathematics courses provide a strong foundation for a broad range of careers and applications. You aren’t limited to research and academia, mathematics can lead you into careers in marketing, finance, government, engineering, health and medicine, technology, security and defence, and of course, science. With physics and chemistry, you can pursue professions in science and technology, education and training, mining and energy, manufacturing, and even medical imaging.

Bachelor of Science (Physical Sciences) and a Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Science) are not just degrees; they’re the catalyst to your brighter future. Come along to Open Day on 28 March 2026 and discover what you might be open to. Here's a taste of what you can experience on the day:

  • Use Mathematics and Statistics to win the Monty Hall game and describe the colour of butterfly wings!

  • Get the student experience by completing experiments in our Physics and Chemistry labs!

Register for Open Day 2026 for your chance to win 1 of 5 prize packs featuring a Google Pixel Watch 4 to keep you on time every time, blue light blocking glasses to make evening study a breeze, and Bose QuietComfort Noise Cancelling Headphones to help you study in peace wherever you go.
