Open to a career in Environmental and Conservation Sciences

Open to a career in Environmental and Conservation Sciences Day

Do you have a passion for all things under the sea? Maybe you have a soft spot for flora and fauna? Or perhaps you want to influence how we manage, sustain, and conserve the environment?

If this excites you, you could be open to a career in Environmental and Conservation Sciences.

Our Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science and Management) blends scientific knowledge with practical skills for managing and preserving environments and biota under threat in Australia and around the world.

You can pick from three different majors: Marine Biology, Conservation and Wildlife Biology, or Environmental Science and Management

Marine Biology will find you studying marine botany, fish biology, marine wildlife populations, marine ecology, aquaculture, and human impacts and management, supported by extensive fieldwork and practical learning. You’ll be qualified to work in a wide range of professions including marine environmental management, marine industries, marine biodiversity conservation, and marine-based tourism.

If wildlife conservation is more your style, then our Conservation and Wildlife Biology major is for you. You’ll get hands-on experience with regular fieldwork on our living laboratory campus, which supports local native flora and fauna. You’ll learn to preserve fragile ecosystems and conserve and protect endangered species.

Are you driven to contribute to policy and solving environmental challenges? Our Environmental Science and Management major is what you need to become the catalyst for change. You’ll learn how the environment works and how we interact with it daily, giving you the context needed to solve environmental challenges with evidence-based solutions. Be prepared to gain interdisciplinary knowledge across water and earth sciences, ecology, policy, law, and environmental management.

The Places You Can Go

With our Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science and Conservation), the job market is your oyster. Make a splash in Marine Biology through research, tourism, or government roles such as fisheries officer, marine park ranger, marine environmental consultant, or biological oceanographer. Turn a new leaf in Wildlife Conservation by becoming a researcher, wildlife forensic specialist, conservation officer, or entering nature-based tourism. Or use your Environmental Science and Management major to become a climate change scientist, natural resource manager, parks and wildlife officer, mining rehabilitation officer, or urban and regional planner.

A Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science and Conservation) isn’t just a degree, it’s a launchpad to a brighter future.

Come along to Open Day on 28 March 2026 and discover what you might be open to.
