Murdoch University leaders recently met with Fortune 500 company Oracle Corporation, in China, to celebrate the new Oracle–Murdoch University Shanxi Teaching Centre.

The new AI-specialist training centre is a partnership, allowing students to receive industry-focused training in Shanxi China, and then an internationally recognised degree in Singapore.

The Centre allows students to first obtain an Oracle certification upon completion of phase one training in China and then progress to Murdoch University's Singapore campus for degree-level studies. The transition will be supported by Kingston International College Singapore.

Murdoch University Pro Vice Chancellor of Transnational Education, and Singapore Dean, Professor Peter Waring, said the partnership offers students a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of an exciting industry. 

“Oracle is widely recognised as an industry benchmark in AI, cloud computing, and big data,” Professor Waring said.

“Murdoch University has always been ahead of the curve, a University not afraid to be different and to create change through global impact.

“We are proud to offer students this unique opportunity to learn from a company with cutting-edge AI technologies, intelligent curriculum systems, and enterprise training standards, and then support them through an accredited degree under the guidance of world-class academics.

“The Shanxi Teaching Centre will deliver AI-specialised programs aligned with global technology trends.

“Students will gain industry-relevant AI capabilities from the start of their studies, and follow this up with recognised Information Technology qualifications at Murdoch University Singapore, before graduating as highly skilled professionals ready to meet the needs of top global employers.

“Qualifications will be recognised officially by the Chinese Ministry of Education and graduates will join an international community of respected Murdoch University alumni across the world.”

The Shanxi Centre is operated by Taiyuan Wende School, which has more than 20 years experience in education delivery.
