Scholarship for Scientific Excellence (Undergraduate)

Multiple scholarships valued at up to $20,000 each are available to domestic and internationl applicants commencing an undergraduate course in the disciplines of Engineering and Energy, Information Technology, Maths and Statistics who have demonstrated a pursuit of scientific excellence. 

An amount of $15,000 is awarded for a three year Science or IT degree; $20,000 for a four year Engineering degree.​

Scholarships are competitively awarded to students with either an ATAR of 92+ and above, or equivalent exceptional performance in any STEM discipline prior to applying to Murdoch University.  

In addition to the scholarship amount, students interested in research will be paired with an academic mentor for the duration of your study and will have access to a further $3,000. This can be put towards travel or costs associated with research.

Students applying for a 4 year Engineering Honours degree are able to apply for this scholarship - applicants for a 1 year honours course are not eligible.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship you must:
  • be a domestic or international ​student
  • study full time at our Perth campus
  • have received an ATAR score of 92+ (or received an equivalent grade in an international qualifying academic program) within the last 18 months from the closing date of the award
  • have applied to study a course specialising in one of the majors offered in the discipline of Engineering and Energy, Information Technology or Maths and Statistics.



How to Apply

Compile the required documents, including the completed application form, and email them to scholarships@murdoch.edu.au by the closing date.

Required Documents

This scholarship requires you to provide the following documents:
  • completed application form​
  • a personal statement explaining your interest in the area you intend on studying and how the scholarship will assist you (no more than two A4 pages)
  • your predicted ATAR score (if applying before ATAR results are known) and be endorsed by your School, Principal or authorising person
  • a list of your WACE subjects or equivalent
  • a copy of your Year 11 results or equivalent.

Payment Method

Subject to the terms and conditions of the award being met, throughout the scholarship recipients study at Murdoch University, the award is paid in either six or eight equal instalments of $2,500 (depending on length of degree) directly to the successful recipient's nominated bank account

For example, if you commence study in Semester 1 of 2020 doing a three year degree, you will receive installments in week 7 or 8 of Semester 1, 2020; Semester 2, 2020; Semester 1,  2021; Semester 2, 2021; Semester 1, 2022; Semester 2, 202​2.
