PhD Scholarship in Machine Learning

The successful candidate will undertake research within the externally funded project entitled “Invasion Alert – A machine learning based platform for invasive ant detection and recognition”.


The focus of the project is the development of a machine learning-based algorithms for fast invasive ant detection and recognition. The PhD candidate will sit within the Harry Butler Institute at Murdoch University, but will actively engage with academics from across other Colleges and Institutes of the University

Requirements

Applicants are welcome from candidates with a demonstrated knowledge and research skills in computer vision and machine learning. The candidate needs to demonstrate strong programming skills using Python and C or C++, and should be familiar with deep learning libraries and tools.

The successful candidate will undertake research within the project titled ‘Invasion Alert – A machine learning based platform for invasive ant detection and recognition’ and is expected to work well within a multidisciplinary team environment.
