Course Description
The Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) is a one-year full-time initial teaching qualification for graduates who hold a Bachelor’s degree in a non-Education field relevant to teaching. This course provides you with professional preparation for teaching in secondary schools and for a wide range of other careers with an education focus.
To be eligible for this course, your undergraduate degree must be relevant to one of the following learning areas in secondary schools: English, Drama, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Mathematics, Languages Other Than English (LOTE) or English as a Second Language (ESL).
On completion of this course you will be eligible to be employed in government and non-government schools and other education related occupations throughout the world. Students should note, however, that some Australian states require a minimum of two years professional pre-service education.

Prior to placement in any school for Professional Experience, it is mandatory that pre-service teachers complete or obtain several forms and clearances. Information and forms regarding these mandatory requirements can be accessed via the Professional Experience website: http://www.murdoch.edu.au/School-of-Education/Professional-Experience Completion and submission of these mandatory requirements is essential before placements can be arranged. A maximum of 25% of total Professional Experience days in the course may be taken overseas.
