About the program
Katitjiny Boya Birrit, meaning ‘pathway to understanding business’ interpreted in Noongar, is designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students with an interest in business or commerce.
This week-long summer camp provides students with an immersive experience and a taste of uni life in a supportive environment.
All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are currently in Years 9–12 are welcome to apply. Places are limited.
The program is a joint initiative between all five Western Australian universities: Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, The University of Notre Dame Australia, and The University of Western Australia, with the support of the Australian Business Deans Council.

Katitjiny Boya Birrit is modelled on similar successful National Indigenous Business Summer School offerings in NSW and Victoria. The program helps students see how their study choices can have a positive impact on their future and the opportunities available through higher education.
Students are supported and supervised throughout the program by mentors and supervisors and they’ll enjoy a mixture of educational, cultural, and social activities. From workshops and business plans to meeting successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs and getting to know other students, the program gives participants a glimpse into what studying business could be like.
