The Homelands Advocacy Hub (formerly the Homelands Water and Energy Working Group) is chaired by Dr Mara West who was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate for her extensive work with communities. The Homelands Advocacy Hub includes representatives from the University and Industry and government stakeholders have expertise that will add value and complement Indigenous perspective to all activities.
The Homelands Advocacy Hub will bring together a range of stakeholders and partnerships to engage practice led, evidence-based policy reform defined by innovative projects conducted through the Coolamon Centre, in selected Aboriginal community trial sites using community development and two-way learning and community as scientists approaches to improve water and energy, build community capacity, empowerment and resilience to work with heatwaves and mitigate climate disasters. The findings from these projects will help to inform government and Aboriginal community-controlled organisations policy and practice.
