Murdoch University today announced the creation of a Digital Futures Academy with world renowned technology provider Cisco as the foundation partner.Murdoch University Vice Chancellor Eeva Leinonen said the Digital Futures Academy includes micro-credentials and short courses that will offer industry-relevant learning experiences and certification.
“Students will be given the opportunity to learn through real world experiences. They will have the opportunity to explore how technology impacts across multiple disciplines, from law technology to business analytics, Fintech to bioinformatics, from gaming to computational and systems medicine.”
“Working with our foundation partner, Cisco, initial courses will give students first-hand experience in the internet of things, followed by offerings in automation, artificial intelligence, robotics and blockchain technologies. These courses, run in collaboration with Cisco, will ensure our students are ready for our technology-driven world.”

“Digitisation is happening across every industry, as governments and business find ways of using digital technologies to improve service levels and become more efficient.
"The pace of digitisation has been accelerated by the pandemic, and the Digital Futures Academy will be well-positioned to prepare young and mature learners for new, tech-intensive jobs,” Mr Johnson said.
Murdoch University Chief Operating Officer Darren McKee said the partnership extends beyond learning.
“Murdoch University and Cisco will work hand-in-hand to develop new digitally-enabled infrastructure projects within Western Australia.”

Mr Johnson explained the Digital Futures Academy is future-looking but also extremely practical, and Cisco is excited to help enable learners create their own digital future.
“Cisco is already a major investor in skilling and re-skilling, predominantly through our Cisco Networking Academy, and the Digital Futures Academy represents a new immersive model to ensure Murdoch University students get access to rewarding and sustainable careers that make our cities, economy and society, smarter," Mr Johnson said.
