New career portal connects alumni and industry
Murdoch University Dubai has made the job hunt even easier for students and alumni with the creation of their new online Career Portal.
The brand-new portal, launched in September, allows employers from industries across the UAE to list their available internship positions, as well as part-time and full-time jobs. Alumni and students can then view job listings and make their applications all in one place.
“The Career Portal is one important part of Edge DXB, our umbrella of all things entrepreneurial and career-related at Murdoch Dubai. Initially, the drive behind the Portal was to create value for our students and alumni and support their ‘employability readiness’, said Keary Shandler, one of the academics involved in its operation.
“It was developed by our very own undergraduate IT students over two trimesters as part of their final year capstone IT project unit (ICT302). We’re immensely proud of their achievement, which showcases the many skills they’ve developed over the course of their degrees,” said Mandy Northover, another of the academics involved in its creation and maintenance.
The Portal is opening doorways for all students and alumni and offering a showcase for their skills. Third-year Psychology student, Dona Madurawala, landed herself an internship within a few weeks of using the Portal. Dona said the sign-up process was so simple and convenient, and all she had to do was start scrolling, apply to a suitable job, and begin to reap the benefits.
Are you worried there may not be what you’re looking for on the Portal? Dona can testify otherwise.
“The job listings are so diverse, and you can find job opportunities for almost every field.
“One of the things I enjoyed about Murdoch Dubai's new Career Portal was that the staff involved with it were so passionate and committed to the success of every student's job application. There is a real sense of belonging to a community when you join the Murdoch family.”
If you’re a Murdoch Dubai alumnus looking to find your dream job, or already have it and want to offer an opportunity to someone else in the Murdoch community, please sign up to the Murdoch Dubai Career Portal now.
