The Strategic Communications student group sMESH swept “Best Student Campaign” at the PRCA awards last month with their campaign about turning visions into reality.

All the student teams are named after the Murdoch University consultancy MESH, which provides students with the practical experience in communications they need to establish their career.

Eraj Naurain, from the winning team sMESH, said she was elated that their team won the award and it was a honour to be recognised by PRCA.

"It was beyond a dreamy night indeed. I owe it all back to my awesome lecturers. I am filled with gratitude to be able to witness our work being recognised on such an honourable platform as PRCA.

This night has fuelled my passion in my line of PR and communications, to continue pursuing what I believe in, just like the campaign we won— turning visions into reality.”Eraj Naurain, Murdoch University Singapore student

Tiffanie Ma, representing finalist Murdoch team InterMesh Communications, said it was an eye-opening experience to have the opportunity to meet public relations professionals at the top of their game in their fields.

During the night, Miss Ma won the best-dressed award (female) for the evening.

The spirit in which the PRCA awards were held was welcoming and energetic—this year Murdoch had two student campaigns shortlisted, with one of the two student campaigns winning the prize, which was an incredibly validating experience.”  Tiffanie Ma, Murdoch University Singapore student

The prestigious annual Public Relations Communications Association (PRCA) Asia Pacific Awards event celebrates the best in professional Public Relations (PR) and Strategic Communications practice.

Professor Peter Waring, Murdoch Singapore Dean said it was wonderful to see the students do so well, under the close guidance of their lecturers, Anjna Vij Nihalani and Shalu Matani.

Having the industry acknowledge the students’ work affirms our belief that Murdoch students have what it takes to make a real difference in the world, and just need to be given the right opportunities."Professor Peter Waring, Murdoch Singapore Dean

"We are very proud of these two student teams’ achievements and look forward to seeing them do even better as they step into the industry," he said.

Adding to the celebrations, the students met Chancellor Mr Gary Smith and Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Deeks, who attended Murdoch University graduations in Singapore on 1 April 2023.
