Founder and head psychologist Mary Hoang started the Indigo Project with the goal of helping people learn about themselves through creative approaches to psychology. Mary says that through art, music and experiences, people can learn to live happier, more meaningful lives in today’s fast-paced modern world with all its pressures.

“The dynamic workshops we’ve created for Murdoch Open Day are going to be a lot of fun. We take an unpretentious approach to modern psychology, offering practical no-nonsense strategies to teach people how to deal with their overactive minds,” she said.

“We believe you are enough. You have the tools to lead a life with meaning, purpose and happiness. But sometimes, you need a little help getting there.”

Murdoch Open Day happens on Saturday 28 July from 10am-4pm.

From Year 10 onwards, you start to feel the pressure. Everyone expects you to know exactly what you’re doing, for the rest of your life. It’s not an easy thing to work out - “What if I make the wrong choice? How do I know what’s right for me?” Uncertainty is typically uncomfortable, but positive psychology teaches us that it is also the birthplace of possibility. In this workshop, we will explore uncertainty, intuition and the importance of listening to yourself. Exploring simple strategies that can be taken away, you will leave with an understanding of the underlying stressors that decision-making can cause, and how you can better work with them moving forward.

This exciting experience will engage you around stress and anxiety, through the power of music. As a music producer and brand sound consultant, Rich Lucano brings a wealth of real-world music industry experience, which - combined with the science of how sound affects us - is packaged into strategies and tips that students can easily implement into their lives. We all know music makes us feel good, but why? Diving into the psychology of sound, we explore the chemical effects that music can have on our mind and the way that we can trigger different parts of our brain with different types of music. We look into the science that underpins everything that DJ’s do, subconsciously, to trigger our emotions through music, and how students can harness this power to better serve them during exam periods.
