Accessibility

Murdoch University is committed to providing universal access to our events. Please contact Completion and Graduations at least two weeks before the ceremony so suitable arrangements can be organised. Advance notice is necessary to arrange for some accessibility needs, e.g. Auslan interpreting, special seating requirements.

What to wear

You must wear the complete Murdoch University academic regalia for the award you are receiving, or the regalia for previous awards.

Perth February ceremonies are held outdoors so it is advisable you and your guests dress according to the weather on the day.

Pronunciation of your name

To ensure your name is pronounced correctly during the ceremony, advise Completion and Graduations of the correct pronunciation at least two weeks before.

Postponement due to poor weather conditions

While Perth summer evenings can be pleasant, the ceremony may be postponed or relocated in the case of bad weather. If postponement is necessary, you will be advised via email and text message a minimum of three hours before the ceremony.

Under no circumstances shall the University be liable for any actual or alleged loss by a ticket holder or another arising from the cancellation or postponement of the event; this includes but is not limited to travel, accommodation and other costs, or any loss of business or earnings due to the cancellation or postponement of the graduation ceremony.

Accepting your certificate

As you reach the stage your name will be checked before it is announced. Once announced, walk across the stage to the Chancellor to receive your certificate. The ceremony photographer will be positioned in front of the stage to take a photo of the presentation. Following this you will then continue across the stage where an usher will direct you back to the graduand seating area.

After the ceremony

It’s time to relax and celebrate with your family and friends and have your photos taken. Further details regarding the post ceremony function will be provided closer to the ceremony date.

To make your night run more smoothly, arrange in advance where you will meet your guests after the ceremony. Waiting at the exits can cause congestion.

Return your regalia

Hired regalia must be returned to the regalia return desk before you leave.

Studio and Stage Photography

Photographers will be available before and after the ceremony for studio portraits. A range of photo package options are available for you to choose from. You can view and order packages combining individual and family photos on the day or pre-order your package from GFP Events.

Souvenir Stage photos of your certificate presentation will be printed with year of graduation and Murdoch University crest, and are available to view, purchase and take home on the night.

A complimentary download of your certificate presentation photo will also be made available. Use your student ID as your voucher code. A different code will be provided if you have studio photos taken.

Pre-book your ceremony photography at GFP Events.
