Peer Academic Coaches

Our Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) are successful students who offer free and individualised 20-minute drop-in or online consultations for all Murdoch students.

PACs are current Murdoch students from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. They are excelling academically themselves, and can help coach you with your studies too.

The PAC team can help you with:

  • getting started at university
  • academic skills (reading, writing, planning, maths, stats, and time-management)
  • discipline-based skills and questions
  • navigating the learning management system
  • assignment advice
  • planning an essay or report
  • referencing
  • understanding academic integrity and discourse.

Speak to a coach in-person or online

PACs are available from Orientation Week until the end of Week 14 of each semester:

  • in person: at a myMurdoch Advice location (Perth and Mandurah campuses)
  • online: sign in to speak with a PAC via LMS.

Meet our coaches

  • Business & Law

    Talitha

Bachelor of Business in Accounting and PR

I love being social as much as I love crunching numbers, so what better way to dedicate 4 years of my life than to study the arts of talking to stakeholders and understanding a business’ financial system?

I can help you analyse financial statements such as Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement along with other Accounting terms and theories.

Also, seek me out if you need a hand with essay planning and structure, referencing, presentation tips, ten point plans (PR), how to work the LMS, and general advice to get through uni with the least amount of breakdown as possible :)

    Jessica

Bachelor of Laws + Bachelor of Business in Human Resources Management

I am always happy to help. I was a PASS leader for Management and Governance for two years; I am currently in my penultimate year of my studies. I can assist with Law related concerns including legal research, legal citation, structuring assignments. I can also help with applying Management / HR models, exam note taking, issue spotting in case studies, referencing and assignment formalities.

    Jordanna

More specifically I am able to help with any law concerns that include but are not limited to legal research (using the databases), legal citation (AGLC4), how to start assignments and how to structure your notes for the exams. Also any business or accounting theory plus any financial statements that you may need to unpack! I look forward to meeting you this semester!

  • Creative Arts & Communication

    Daniel

Bachelor of Creative Media in Sound and Games Art and Design (3rd year)

I'm passionate about both music and game design and hope to help you excel in these areas.

Feel free to drop by if you're looking for help with assessment expectations and ideas, planning, organisation, essay writing and structure, or a tour of online resources like MyMurdoch and LMS.

    Jake

Bachelor of Creative Media in Sound, secondary major in Screen Production (2nd Year)

With a Bachelors in Contemporary Music it is safe to say I am very passionate in music and currently work as a musician and music teacher. I help others discover their musical selves and achieve their musical goals. This is no different to being a PAC Leader, I want to help students achieve their goals to the highest standard and give them the confidence to push themselves.

My passion for music made me decide to study further and remain in the musical world, so here I am studying sound. My favourite pastime, watching films, gave me the inspiration to choose screen production as my secondary major.

I can offer advice for but not limited to Sound, Screen Production and Photography units. I can also offer advice in other areas such as research, essays and assignments, referencing, scheduling and time management.

    Stephanie

Bachelor of Creative Media in Graphic Design and Strategic Communication (3rd year)

    Cathryn

I believe in the power of images to communicate at a deep level through evoking emotion as well as presenting symbolic ideas. I love working with people and feel that every portrait is a collaboration between the subject and the photographer.

Due to having multiple responsibilities, I have developed a good system of planning so can help with organisational challenges, as well as academic writing and referencing. I have been running my own photography business for the past decade, so can also help with some practical aspects of photography and freelancing.

I can help you with any of the units listed below, as well as assist you in structuring reports in physical/chemical sciences.
