Language and Cultural Exchange

Our community is vibrant and diverse. If you wander around any Murdoch University campus, you’ll hear students speaking languages from all over the world.

Our language and cultural exchange program, often know as LACE, is designed to connect students through an intercultural social network.

We welcome anyone within the Murdoch community who has an interest in language and culture, has English as a second language or is from a different cultural background.

Throughout the year there are campus-wide events as well as smaller events specifically for LACE. You are welcome to join in with just one or many.

How you can benefit

The LACE network is for everyone to learn and share no matter where you are from or what your background is. By participating in LACE events you can expect to:

  • have fun
  • make friends from all around the world
  • learn about different cultures
  • find out about the local Aboriginal culture
  • build culturally diverse connections
  • practice conversational skills in new languages
  • develop your cross-cultural understanding.
LACE fosters a community of diverse peoples and cultures that come together to achieve, not only their academic goals, but to develop their understanding of each other in our increasingly globalised world. The experience and understanding students take away from LACE is becoming more relevant to facilitate success in the international work environment.

Get connected

The best way for you to find out about all the events as they are organised is by subscribing to LACE. You will be advised about upcoming events through our mailing list. Send us an email to let us know you are interested. We also have an active Facebook group where you can share information, ask questions or post external events that the group may be interested in. We encourage everyone to get involved.
